Athletes face many unique pressures as they train to improve their performance. And they are well-supported with a range of resources to help them reach peak physical performance. Unfortunately, there isn't the same emphasis placed on attaining elite levels of mental health and wellness.
Athletes can often feel isolated when experiencing the common ups and downs of sport, like performance anxiety, losses, injuries, negative feedback, demotions, difficult relationships in the locker room, and verbal abuse from coaches and peers.

As athletes age, the likelihood of encountering harassment increases. The harassment that athletes face is multifaceted; it can include performance shaming, body shaming, homophobia, xenophobia, racism, disgruntled bettors attacking athletes due to missed bets, and attempts to influence the outcome of a match. As a result, Athletes can often turn negative behaviors in order to cope or feel a sense of escape. Negative behaviors could include:
Gambling / Sports Betting
Video Gaming
Drug or Alcohol Abuse
Eating Disorders
Problem Sexual Behaviors or Porn Use
For athletes who are ready to speak with a counselor about problem habits, mental health problems, or addictions, Kindbridge can connect you with a licenced therapist in as little as 24hrs. For family members of an athlete, it is important to know that recovery often starts with a parent, spouse or partner taking the first step toward intervention. Seeking the personal advice of a therapist is completely normal and recommended.
Getting started only takes a minute.

Colorado Athlete Well-being Program

In coordination with Sportradar, Kindbridge has created an Athlete Wellbeing Program for all DI, DII, DIII, and NCAA schools in the State of Colorado. This program is designed to be a platform for the following:
Education: Provides self guided learning modules for anti match fixing, social media integrity, and athlete well-being.
Reporting: Provides a confidential service for reporting abuse or harassment by the Sports Betting community. College athletes remain entirely anonymous.
Athlete Protection: Once an athlete reports an abuse incident, authorities will be notified and take necessary action against perpetrators of harassment.
Mental Health Care: Athletes will get convenient access to mental health assessment tools, educational resources, or licenced counsellors through our Telehealth App.
The research and data collection from this program will help us better understand the problems athletes face and how we can prevent abuse from occurring in the future.
